The local government map

Companion to Microeconomics, Plain and Local · rick4treasurer.org/micro-map · compiled July 2026

The microeconomics primer talks about scarcity, incentives, and trade-offs in the abstract. This page puts the players on the ground: every local government and special district serving Chelan County, pinned to its front door, colored by how it's funded, with a link to its website. Around 35 public entities share the tax dollars and decisions in this county — most people can name five. Knowing who they are and where they sit is step one of understanding how your money moves.

How to read the colors (same key as my one-page guide): black = Chelan County itself · teal = local districts whose money flows through the County Treasurer · purple = regional / quasi-government agencies funded by sales tax, grants, or dues. Click any pin for the address and website. Use the panel list to jump to any entity.

Pins mark each entity's main public office. Stehekin School is placed approximately (no addressed roads). Some small districts share buildings.

Districts with no public office

A handful of small Treasurer-funded districts levy assessments but keep no staffed public office — they're governed by volunteer boards and administered through the county. They belong on the list even though they can't get a pin: Chelan County Cemetery District No. 4, Brae Burn Mosquito Control District, Leavenworth Mosquito Control District No. 2, Chelan County Mosquito Control District No. 3, the Chelan County Flood Control Zone District, and the county's Noxious Weed Control and Horticultural Pest & Disease boards (reachable via co.chelan.wa.us).

Phase II — coming next

State and federal offices serving the county (WSDOT, State Patrol, Fish & Wildlife, Forest Service, National Park Service, and more) and tribal governments, in the amber and rust colors from the one-page guide — plus micro-concept tags connecting each entity back to the primer.
