Nancy Villa has known Rick Viall for approximately 35 years, beginning when he played goalkeeper in the Mexican league here in the valley and later through the elementary school his children attended. Her endorsement speaks to the consistency of his character throughout those years.
I have known Rick Viall for about 35 years. We first met through soccer, when Rick was the portero, or goalkeeper, playing in the Mexican league here in the valley.
I also came to know Rick as a parent. I worked at the elementary school his children attended, where I would see the family from time to time. You learn a great deal about a person by watching how they interact with their children when they are not trying to impress anyone—their patience, their respect for others, and the values they teach their children. That is where I saw Rick’s character.
Throughout all those years, Rick has consistently been kind, respectful, and dependable. He was kind before there was anything in it for him—that is the part you cannot fake, and it is the quality I trust most. He is a quiet leader. He does not seek attention, and he does what he says he will do, whether or not anyone is watching.
The County Treasurer is entrusted with money that belongs to other people. I want someone in that position whom I would trust with my own money. I trust Rick. That is why I am proud to endorse Rick Viall for Chelan County Treasurer.
